A great resource for writer is TVTropes,org, a site that caters to television writers but has a lot of good examples of character, conflict and setting.  If you're ever stuck on an idea or looking for an idea, I would highly recommend it.  It's a wiki, too, so you are welcome to add some of your own ideas, too.

I enjoyed this "Female Character Flowchart" which pokes fun at many of the female stereotypes found in TV, movies and literature

New writing contest:  check out the details for GFWC Woman's Club of Hendersonville Short Story Contest.

Don't forget to pick up a copy of The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak and start reading over the break.  We will be discussing the book in class throughout the month of October.

We're hoping to feature more local authors and songwriters on "Writer Mondays" throughout the semester.
